PANTOMINE IN FOXTON,
“Old Mother Hubbard,” the funniest of all pantomines, is to be staged by the Stanley McKay Co., at the Town Hall Foxton, to-mor-row, Friday, March 25. It will be remembered that this excellent English and Australian Co., made a wonderful impression a few months ago with “My Geisha Girl,” and there is little doubt that a big audience will greet them on their farewell performance here. Particular attention has been paid to both the dressing and staging of the McKay’s production, hundreds of beautiful dresses being worn during the. evening. Comedy is a bigfeature of entertainment, the chief funmakers being Maudie Stewart, Frank Perryn, and Arthur Meredith. Handsome Laurie McLeod is the principal boy who falls in love with charming Madoline Knight. Singing is featured by Will Raynor, the possessor of a robust tenor voice of extraordinary range, who is to be heard in the latest popular numbers. Others in the large caste are Walter George, Jack Raymond, Arthur Harrison, Georgie Martin, and the “Four Little Kellys,” whose playing of violins, cello, and piano has never been equalled in Australia or New Zealand. No lover of music should fail to hear these remarkable juveniles, headed by Leone, the violin genius. An excellent orchestra under the direction of May Brookie, and a well trained ballat and chorus complete the finest musical show of its kind in the’ Dominion. Seats mav be reserved at Heath’S.
MARY PICK FORD IN “SPARROWS.” ■ “Sparrows,” Mary Pickford’s latest and greatest achievement, screens at the Town Hall to-night only. Miss Pickford’s role as “Mama Mollie,” who mothers eight young children, prisoners of Grimes —a notorious baby farmer 'gives “the world’s sweetheart.” unique opportunities of showing her greatness in such roles. There are many moments of laughter—but above all some most thrilling and hair raising climaxes during a chase across a crocodile infested swamp, which surrounds the baby farm. Roy Stewart and Lloyd Whitlock, are in the big supporting caste, which also includes a number of juvenile screen celebrities. Prices tonight*: 1/- and 1/15, children half price. For coloured drama, high powered action, and beautiful scenic effects “The Silver Treasure,” to head Saturday’s programme is said to be one of this year’s best pictures And why shouldn’t it be? It was made from the novel “Nostromo” by Joseph Conrad, was produced by Fox, and played by a east headed by George O’Brien, who has wonderful opportunities of displaying bis athletic prowess. With a selected list of supporting films “The Silver Treasure” will be presented at ‘usual prides.
