FOXTON FIRE BOARD.
QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Foxton Fire Board was held at the secretary’s office last evening presided over by Mr. F. G. Cray (chairman). There were also present: Messrs A. H. Clerke, J. K. Hornblow, M. E. Pcrreau, F. Woods and the secretary (Mr. Roorc Rangiheuea). Superintendent J. H. Downes was also in attendance. Since the last meeting the personnel of the Board has been reduced from seven to five members, in accordance with amen-, ded legislation. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows: — From the chairman advising that the Wellington Fire Board would supply 500 ft. of hose, free of cost, to the brigade for dry practices. — The hose had come to hand and a vote of thanks was passed to the Wellington Board for the gift. From the Wellington Board re proposed conference of Fire Board’s delegates.—The chairman spoke in support of the conference where opportunity was afforded to discuss matters of importance to Boards and to assist in bringing down necessary legislation affecting Boards. —It was decided to support the holding of the conference and Messrs Hornblow and Perrcau were appointed the Board’s delegates. A vote of thanks was passed to Messrs M. H. Walker and C. J. Gray retiring members of the Board, for past services. The Superintendent’s report was read and it was decided to leave certain matters referred to in the hands of the local members to deal with.
Accounts amounting to £152 8s Id were passed for payment. After the meeting rose the Board witnessed a demonstration by the brigade in Main Street and the men were complimented upon their efficiency by the chairman who also referred to the excellent pressure of water.
