HOROWHENUA POWER BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. The .monthly meeting of the Horowhenua Electric Power Board was held in Levin on Tuesday, there being present: Messrs G. A. Monk (chairman), C. Kilsbv, W. E. Barber, A. J. Petherick, W. H. Gunning, P. W. Goldsmith (secretary), and J. A. Smith (engineer). Leave of absence was granted to A. Boss. TREASURER’S REPORT. The Treasurer (Mr. Goldsmith) reported as follows: — Since the Board' last met payments have been made to the extent of £893 7s sd. The principal items of expenditure were: Wages £420, salaries £250, railway freight (chiefly poles) £l2B. Owing to the mishap to the s.s. Northumberland a general average of 25 per ieent. on Die value of the cargo was declared and the Board had to advance the Sum of £35 ss, being the allotted percentage on £l4l, the value of the Board’s cargo on board. The bulk of this cargo has come to hand, with little or no damage, the shipment being galvanised iron strips. The insurance will, however, make good any loss, whether little or much. The accounts submitted for the day amounted to £1583 17s 6d. The two principal accounts were those of Messrs Riley and Co. for transformers, the amount being £538, and Messrs Richardson, McCabe and Co. for 294 poles, the amount being £445 9s (id. Water-heating elements, fuses, ranges, cable, meters, cross-arm timber, benzine and electrical installations accounted for the bulk of the balance. ■Since the last meeting of the Board over £3OOO has been paid into the Bank. The receipts for the period for electricity and meter rents since last meeting has been £2104 17s 6d, and the receipts from these sources for the corresponding period, last year amounted to £1725 3s 4d. The receipts for the year to date for electricity and meter rents now total £32,220, as against £20,271 at the March meeting last year. In both instances there is included an amount from the preceding year, viz., that outstanding on the 31st March of the respective years, but collected afterwards. The report was adopted. ANALYSIS OP CONNECTED LOAD. The following figures show the totals of connected load in the Board’s district to March 9th: —
The engineer’s report was adopted and he was given authority to construct a line at Otaihanga Road, provided that the prospective consumers sign the necessary guarantee. The next meeting of the Board will he held on Tuesday, April 26th.
