Mr. Patrick Delaney, of Matamata, celebrated his 98th birthday on Wednesday. Mr. Delaney is one of the few remaining Indian mutiny veterans residing .in New Zealand, and still has the use of all his faculties, being able to read and assimilate newspapers and novels. He also walks to church regularly each Sunday, wet or fine. Mr Delaney was married at Onehunga 03 years ago. and afterwards lived at Nowstead for about 30 years. His eldest sou is 03 years of age.
