Holmes Runnieles, professor of music, has consented to deliver a lecture on the subject of “The Value of Music to a Community,” at the next meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, to he held on (he 24th iust. The Chamber will extend an invitation to the public to attend the lecture, which will he held in the Masonic Hall. At. the Shannon sports on Saturday, H. Reid won the 220 yards and half-mile, and was second in the mile; H. Hutchins won the standing chop event and Aldridge Avon the Jiving cycling race. Mr J. Newton, local postmaster, has received advice that he has been appointed to the position of assistant radio inspector at. Foxton.
