THEFT OF EGGS.
At the local S.M. Court yesterday, before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., a young lad was charged by the Police with the theft of 49 eggs from Mr. J. G. Honore’s poultry farm. Accused pleaded guilty. Constable Ryan, who conducted the case for the police, said that Mr Honor© had complained to him that lie was losing eggs from time to time. 1 Witness had watched the poultry farm as a result of the complaint and last Monday afternoon saw accused enter one of the fowlhouses. When he came out he had 49 eggs in a bag. Accused had never previously been before the court and was employed in the fibre paddocks at a wage of 35/- per week. Asked if he had anything to say, accused replied that he had not. and the S.M. in convicting and fininghim £2 and costs 10/-, expressed the hope that he would not come before the court again.
