FOXTON HIGH SCHOOL

The secretary reported that he had. obtained 1 a map of the Manawatu County showing the localities from whence children are to be conveyed from Motuiti and Himatangi, but the actual distances of the homesteads would have to be indicated. —Resolved; that the details be left in the hands of the chairman, secretary and headmaster. A statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the school picnic was submitted by the secretary, which disclosed a credit balance of £9 5s lid. Votes of thanks were passed to all who assisted to make the annual outing a success. - An application from Mr. Braddoeik, to give religious instruction in the school after school hours was received and it was decided that the committee take no action in the matter. The headmaser reported that the roll numbers were as follows: — Primary 417, side-school 45, secondary 36, a total of 417 with an average attendance of 90 per cent. Owing to a mild; form, of influenza, the attendance showed a falling off for last month. The Board’s carpenters had effected 'certain repairs and miattir.'g was required for the infant department. The report was adopted and the headmaster and secretary were authorised to procure matting, the cost to be referred to the Board for payment. The purchase of a bell was also sanctioned. Mr. Walton objected to the storage of science apparatus in Ail Saints’ schoolroom. The subject of temporary accommodation for the secondary and technical classes was discussed at some length and a recommendation to tile Board decided upon. The headmaster reported that, there had not been any practical cooking lessons given since the destruction of the Town Hall. Mr. Alsop reported upon the side school at the seaside. Accounts amounting to £43 5s 2d were passed for payment.
