MANAWATU-HOROWHENUA * UNION.

A meeting of the Management •Committee of the Manawatu-Horo-whcuim Rugby Union was held in the Concert Chamber, Levin, last Friday evening, when, several mattea’s of business .connected with the winding-up of last season and the inauguration of the new season were dealt with. There were present : Messrs J. J. O’Connor (in the chair), M. Winiata, K. Eglington, W. Moyniliam, J. R. Hardie, and J. Casey.

Notification was received that the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union would be held In Wellington on May sth. Tlie annual meeting of the Mana-watn-Hofowhcnua Union was fixed for March 25th, at Palmerston. > Mr. J. B. Proud forwarded his resignation as secretary of the Union, owing to his having removed to Wanganui. In writing to the Union, he hoped that he would be able to visit Palmerston during the coming , season. He 'conveyed to all the members his sincere thanks for the assistance given and kindness shown to him during his term of of- ' lice, ami he trusted that the Union would again have a prosperous season. , The resignation was accepted y with regret, and it was decided to ( send a letter of thanks to Mr Proud for his past service. It was also resolved, “That this * committee approves of a paid man being appointed secretary of the . Union.” . The provisional balance-sheet, which is subject to -,audit, showed a, credit balance of £221. Mr. Hardie was requested to communicate with a Wellington firm with‘reference to suitable colours for jerseys for Manawatu representatives in the coming season. The annual meeting of the Foxton Rugby Football Club will be held in tlie Town Hall supper-room on Friday evening next, at 8 o’clock. A full attendance of members is requested. The business of the meeting will be to receive the annual report and balance-sheet and to elect officers tor the ensuing year and general. . -
