£SO FINE
FOR THEFT OF COW
Napier, February 25.
In the Supreme Court, Mr. Justice Ostler fined Martin Paget, a Putorino farmer, £SO on a charge
of stealing three cattle, the property of George Percy Coates, a neighbouring farmer. The jury inspected the cattle alleged to have been stolen, and returned a verdict, that accused was guilty of stealing one cow, and recommended him to mercy.
His Honour said that he had given consideration to the rider, and also to accused's previous honourable record. Six months were allowed for the payment of the line.
