ICE CREAM VENDOR
FINED £ls.' At the Wauganui S.M. Court this week W. D. Dixon an ice cream vendor was fined £ls under the Pure Foods Act. The Health office said the ice cream room was in a filthy condition. The wooden churn was dirty and the iron work was rusty and thick with filth. The wallswere dirty and the concrete floor was thick with filth. The large can in which the ice cream was made had about a half gallon of soar cream in the bottom and one gallon contained rotten cream. Another can contained semi-sour milk and this also was in a dirty state. There were two sodden sacks, on the 1 floor and defendant threw them out at the time of the inspection. The inspector picked up a dirty wooden spoon out of the filth on the floor. This had been used in the manufacture of ice cream. Defendant since receiving the sumons had assigned his estate and left for Australia. He had been fined £5 for a similar offence in 1924.
