NORTH v. SOUTH TRIAL MATCH

In view of the representative game to be played against Manawatu next month, a North and South trial match will be played at Levin on Saturday next. The chosen teams are as follows : North. —Hunt, Newth, P. Morgan, T. Morgan, Pickard, Roach, Hickson, Auckram, Hunter, Emmett, and MacKenzie. South. —O’Connor, Bull, Wallace (Weraroa), Sievers, Pringle, S. Simeox (Otaki), Allen, Miles (Paraparaumu), Phillips, Martin and Bennett (captain), Levin. “B” TRIAL MATCH. It has been decided to play a “B” North and South m'atch also, on the same day. This game will be played 'at Weraroa. If necessary any vacancies in the “A” teams will be filled by players chosen for the second game. The teams will comprise the following: North. —Nicholson, Pink, Mohckey (2), B. Taylor, Ross, Howe, Bowden, Hunt junior, Harris and Hinds. Emergencies:—Webb, Blake and Evans. South. —Hell amore, Fitton, E. Wleggery, O. Lynch, Reeve (Paraparaumu), France (captain), Watts Hall (Weraroa), A. Flutcy (Otaki), Vanham, Field (Levin). Emergencies:—Taylor (Levin), Moodie (Levin), Lima (Otaki). PHOENIX v. FOXTON. The match played between Phoenix and Foxton, at Foxton on Saturday, resulted in a win for Phoenix by four wickets and 85 runs. The visiting team declared their innings closed when the score was 157 for six wickets. Hunter made a great showing with the bat, his total being 78, including one six and seven fours. McKenzie compiled 22, and Auckram 34 not out. Bowling for Levin, Auckram took nine wickets for 28 runs. Following are the scores: — ' PHOENIX.
