BOOKMAKER FINED HEAVILY.
“A PERSISTANT OFFENDER.”
Dunedin, February 12,
Gustave Johnson .was fined £IOO in the Magistrate’s Court this morning for carrying on business as a bookmaker. He had been fined £SO previously, and the Magistrate said that he must lie treated as a persistent.offender. John Erskine, described as a commision agent, was fined £3O. It was stated that lie had handled £2OOO in cheques from one investor in nyie months.
