GLORIA SWANSON IN “THE UNTAMED LADY.”
[f “The Untamed Lady” heading the big Cabaret programme at the Town Hall on Wednesday, had nothing more to recommend it than the fact that Gloria Swanson stars in it, it would he worth seeing, but it has the additional interest of being an exciting story from the pen of Fannie Hurst, noted novelist. The plot centres round Gloria, in her role of a wealthy society heiress, with an ungovernable temper. She becomes engaged 'three times and then along comes No. 4, and then the fun begins in earnest. No. 4 gets the idea into his head that it is up to him to tame her, and he almost breaks his neck before he realises that Gloria doesn’t take quietly to his cave man stuff. Of more than ordinary interest are the yacht scenes, showing Gloria shovelling coal in the boiler room at the height of a raging storm. An exciting horseback chase, in which a fiance takes a dangerous fall, is another striking highlight in the picture. The full supporting programme includes “Glamis Castle,” Screen Snaps and the latest New®. Cabaret prices. On Friday evening two fine sporting pictures will be offered. “Heads Up,” the No. 1 attraction, stars Lefty Flynn, famous American footballer and athlete, while No. 2 “Beating the Book,” is the 2nd of the popular Racing dramas, featuring the world’s greatest jockey, Steve Douoghue. A special South Sea Island drama, “Black Paradise,” has been booked for Saturday next. It is an unusual stoi’y of three men and a girl on an island of Exile.
