S.M. COURT.
MONTHLY SITTING
The usual monthly sitting of the local S.M. Court was held in the Courthouse before Mr 1 . .J. L. Stout, S.M., yesterday. ILLEGALLY ON LICENSED . PREMISES.
E. Conn, who pleaded guilty to a charge of being illegally on the licensed promises ol the Post Office Hotel on the evening of the 15th January, was mulcted in £2 and costs 10/-. One month was allowed in which to pay the fine. OAR TOO CLOSE TO RAT WAY' LINE. Michael Potopoff. was charged that on September Bth 1926, he obstructed the working of the New Zealand Railways by leaving his ear too near' to the railway line between Foxton and Hirnatangi to allow the train to pass. Accused pleaded guilty and Consi aide Owen explained that Potopoff was ,a cone collector and had left his ear alongside the line as Rood water precluded him from parking the ear on the other side of the road. There was not quite enough clearance allowed, with the result that the train collided with the rear mudguard. No damage was done. A fine of 10/- was imposed, costs amounting to 13/-. CIVIL CASES. Judgment was given for plaintiff* in the following civil undefended eases: —Smith and Starkie v. M. McGregor, claim £7 9s fid, costs 15/-. Mr. Bergin was granted judgment. for £l2 13s 9d, with costs £1 6s from P. J. Jack and an order was mad© for possession of house on or before February 27th,
