TAXI-DRIVER CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER.
SEQUEL TO COLLISION AT CHRISTCHURCH. Christchurch, Jauuary 18. As a sequel to the death of Mrs. Ivy Louisa Boon, aged 31, who was killed in a collision on January 9, James Luderman Matthews, aged 35, a taxi-driver, was chaged with having driven recklessly and causing the death of Mrs. Boon, who was in a milk van driven by her "husband. One witness said the taxi was going at over 40 miles per hour. Accused pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial, bail being allowed on his own recognisance for £2OO, and one surety, for £2OO. COMMITTED FOR TRIAL FOR ARSON. Auckland, January 18. The hearing of an arson charge against Joseph Henry Trask, aged 47, concluded yesterday afternoon and the accused was committed for trial.
