“No property is safe with this man about,” stated Senior-Serge-ant O’Grady at the Palmerston Magistrate’s Court yesterday, 1 when James Ross, alias Palm, alias Barrett, was charged with the theft of a bicycle, an overcoat, and a rug, valued at £9 10s. “There are twen-ty-two previous convictions against him, and he has spent, most of his time in gaol,” added the SeniorSergeant. He was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
