BIBLE IN SCHOOLS

Owing to counter attractions, there was not a large attendance at the Masonic Hall on Thursday night to listen to an address on the Bible in State Schools delivered by Mr. Phityot Crowther, the League’s organising secretary., The Rev. Mr. Peryman presided in the unavoidable absence of the Mayor. The speaker dealt fully with Parliament’s attitude to the question and stated that although the Upper House defeated the Bill there is a majority in the House who favoui the introduction of Bible lessons in State Schools. At the conclusion of the meeting a resolution was unanimously carried in. favour of the proposal. At to-morrow evening’s service in All Saints’ Church Mr. Crowther will again deal with the subject.
