Hie animal general meeting of flm Pox ton Amateur Cycling Club uas held in Hamer’s rooms last Thursday evening, presided over b.V <bo Vice-President (Mr. G. F. Smith). There was an excellent atlenlanee of members and those interested present REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET The annual report read as follows : “The season’s operations commenced on June 3rd 1920, and although there were not a large number of competitors, it was gratifying to see sufficient for keen contests. As an outcome the cycling dub was formed and weekly racing over a period oi ten weeks for points prizes was inaugurated. Ou -riders have competed in various towns and on the whole have acquitted themselves with credit to i-he club. One rider competed in the Palmerston North-Wellington race, and although just a lad he completed the course and was in a fairly good position. The general public have evinced a wonderful interest in tne racing each week, and although a Queen Carnival was running practically from our inception we received much practical encouragement. Quite a number of keen supporters of the club have given valuable assistance in collecting funds, etc., whilst the tradespeople lutve been most generous. A special word of thanks is due to Mr. Coughtroy for his donation of a silver cup. The coming year is full of promise. The membership has grown and no doubt will continue to grow, whilst many promising riders are improving with every race. I his report would be inadequate without special mention of the excellent publicity given the club by I be press, and also to the work done by our energetic secretary. “The various social functions promoted by the club have been well patronised and appreciated by members. Irts suggested by the out-going committee that a strong working committee he formed to promote the interests of the club during 1927 and it is a recommendation that relay races be held at various times, also that if sufficient encouragement is forthcoming endeavours should he made to get a track put down in Easton Park.” The balance-sheet disclosed a very satisfactory state of affairs, the receipts having been £57 14s lOd and the expenditure £52 2s 4d, leaving a credit balance of £5 12s 6d. ELECTION OF OFFICERS •3SSSB The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. J. Linklater, M.P.; President, Mr. M. E. Perreau; vicepresidents, Messrs W. E. Barber, J. K. Hornblow, IV. Bullard, J. Desmond, D. Christie, H. Hutchins, G. F. Smith, S. Austin, R. McMullian, A. E. Tongs, J. Barr, E. Parkin, R. Cochrane, W. Hamer, Roekfort and J. Coughtrey; secretary and treasurer, Mr. P. W. Little; assistant

secretary, Mr. R. McEwen; auditor, Mr. E. Jackson; committee, Messrs Martin senr., H. Hutchins, A. East, W. Aldridge, 11. Taylor, J. Madden and A. Walls; starter, Mr. G. F. Smith; handicnppers, Messrs J. Madden, P. W. Little.

The report and balance sheet was read and adopted. Mr. H. W. Brown of Palmerston North was appointed delegate for the club to the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association.

Membership subscription was fixed at 2/6 per member.

The handicappers were authorised to grade riders into A and B classes over a series of races for points prizes. Entrance fees for races, A’s 1/-, B’s 6d, to be paid the night before the races. It was decided that races be held on Wednesdays at 5.30 p.m., the first series to commence on January 12th. Distances: A’s 5 miles, B’s 3 miles; the committee to decide each week, the distance and route of the races.

The eomifiittee were also authorised to hold open events after each series of races.

The committee were requested to go into details and to endeavour to have a cycling track laid down in Easton Park.

Messrs G. Coley, P. Honour, W. Broad and W. Ncwtli were appointed a social committee and were given power to arrange for card tournaments, dances, etc. The appointing of a ladies’ committee was also left in the hands of this committee.

Votes of thanks were passed to the lion. Secretary for the great interest he had taken in the club’s welfare, and for the able way he had carried out his duties. Ihe lion, auditor and other officials were also accorded a similar courtesy. -Votes of thanks to Mr. Hamer for the use of his rooms and to the chairman concluded the meeting.
