STANLEY McKAY’S COMPANY.

A VERSATILE ENTERTAINMENT. The return visit of the above company was welcomed by a good and keenly appreciative audience in the Town Hall last night. The last appearance of the company was in tho old Town Hall and on this, their return visit, the company had thp honour of being tlie first professional company to appear in the new building. The first portion of (lie programme was a medley of songs and sketches and the second a one-act musical comedy. The four little Kelly girls arc musical prodigies To hear the eldest child, Leone, play numbers like “Canari” (Poliaku) and “Zigennerwcisen” (Sarasate) with all their intricacies of technique, is to sit and marvel. The other members of the quartette are Wiki (pianist) Bernice (’cellist) and Daisy (violinist and dancer) the last-named a mere tot. A great impression was made by the tenor robusto, Mr Will Raynor, who sang a recitative prologue with grand dramatic effect and his singing of “The Deathless Army,” “Arab.v,” and his interpretation of the “Death of Nelson” were the highest llights of perfection. The principal lady soloist was Miss Madeline Knight, mezzo-soprano. Miss Maudie Stewart, the sonbrette, was beard to advantage in several songs while the songs and dances by Miss Laurie McLeod added considerably to the brightness of the show. As a •comedian, Frank Perrvii dominates the stage, and laughter never slackens while he is in sight. The light comedian, made an excellent stage Chinaman. Mr Walter George, the leader of the company, was happily placed both as vocalist and'lmpersonator. Other roles were well filled, by Jack Raymond and Miss Georgie Martin, who wer'e ahlv associated with several of the principal singers in eoncerled numbers. An efficient orchestra, under Miss May Brooke, -contributed overtures ■and provided spirited accompaniments to the choruses.
