MUNICIPAL BALL.

A DECIDED SUCCESS. The Municipal Ball, held iir connection with the opening ceremony of the Town Hall on Wednesday night was a decided success and a fitting wind-up to an important civic function.; The wide expanse of floor space had been specially prepared for dancing and was in excellent order. The stage was artistically furnished and the colour scheme of the main interior, with streamers and electric globes, was most effective. The music was supplied by Larkins orchestra. The Mayor (Mr Perreau) officiated as M.C. Among those present were visitors from Palmerston N., Feilding, Levin, and adjoining districts, while the circle was occupied by the public. The catering arrangements wore in the ' capable hands of Mrs Walls and the supper room lay-out and excellent menu justified the high encomiums passed thereon. After the supper adjournment those present indulged in the carnival spirit and narrow . and vari-coloured streamers were entwined about the dancers. Among those present were— Mrs J.
