THE WAIMAKARIRI FLOOD.
Christchurch, November 17 “Luckily for the district there was little snow on the ranges. Had there been much snow the flooduld have been into Christchurch.” This statement was made by the Waimakariri River Trust’s consulting engineer (Mr F. C. Hay, of Foxton), in a report to the trust on the damage done by the flood of Npvember sth, and the cost of repairs. According to Mr Hay, about 2,000 acres of good land were flooded, and his estimate of the cost of repairs to the protective works is £3,592.
