FOXTON UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.

COMMITTEE MEETING. A. committee meeting of the Fox,ton United Sports Association was held in the Racing Club office last night, presided over by the President (Mr W. T. Jewell). Also present were Messrs R. Bryant, P. J. Jack, S. Austin, J. Thomson, D. R. Ogilvy, S. Barber, 11. Hamer, W. Jewell, W. Ross, E. Parkin, D. Christie, R. Hornblow, and the secretary (Mr F. Rimmer). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs C. A. Pearson, H. Hutchins and D. R. Barron. Correspondence of a routine nature was received. FINANCIAL STATEMENT! The financial statement in connection with the recent motor cycle sports meeting was tabled, and disclosed. a credit balance of £43. The President said the meeting had been very successful and the financial statement was highly satisfactory. The prize money paid out totalled £lsl and constituted a record for the Dominion and when it was taken into consideration that the non-recurring expenses totalled £BO it-would be seen that the club had done remarkably well. In fact it showed progress in its two years of existence that could not be equalled in the country. Other clubs with / years of experience were not paying out anywhere near the amount the local club was in prize money. Everything the club had handled in connection with the meeting had turned out well. The President also made eulogistic reference to the untiring efforts of the secretary (Mr F. Rimmer), and it was decided to vote him a bonus of £2O. Mr Christie brought up the question of employing Mr Rimmer on a definite salary, hut after discussion the matter was deferred until next year. '!«! The caretaker of the racecourse was voted a bonus of £5 for his work in connection with the track for the meeting. It was decided to vote £5 5/- to the N.Z.A.C.U. towards the-expens-es incurred in holding the reliability motor cycle tests recently, which passed through Foxton. Various accounts in connection with the.recent sports meeting were passed for payment and it was decided that the next meeting be held in the first week in December. HORSE EVENTS. The question of holding a horse race meeting was brought up by the President, who pointed out that the Club already had a permit for this purpose, and that unless a meeting was heki soon it would lapse. He suggested that the committee should go into the question of holding— 1 such a meeting in February next. It was pointed out that in all probability military camps would be held on the racecourse during that "month and that a meeting could not be fitted in with the men In camp. " The secretary was instructed to make enquiries from the Oroua Downs and Taikorea clubs as to a suitable date. Mr Christie demonstrated certain improvements necessary on the lap scoring board, and after discussion it was decided to make the necessary alterations. Votes of thanks mere accorded the local stationmaster (Mr H. Hornblow), donors of cups, and all those who assisted in any way in connection with the sports*
