THREE MONTHS FOR THEFT.

Jean Baxter, who created a sensation in Foil ding recently by presenting a revolver at the proprietress of a ladies’ hairdressing' saloon, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court with stealing a watch valued at £5, the property of Angus McKay. Detective Walsh said that yesterday morning the complainant left his house and during his absence (lie accused went in and stole the watcli. The accused admitted the theft and said that she knew the informant and wanted to tell him about a book named “Musings in Maoriland” he had lent her four years ago. She was under the influence of liquor at the time and did not know why she took the watch. Detective Walsh said the accused had been brought before the Court before for vagrancy and theft and only came out of gaol on Wednesday after serving a sentence for presenting a revolver at a person at Feilding. The accused was sen--1 diced to three months’ imprisonment with hai'd labour.
