THE LATE MR. F. PIRANI.

The esteem and respect in which then hate Mr F. Pirani was held was evidenced at his funeral, at Wellington on Thursday. The pallbearers were Messrs Arthur Pirani (brother of deceased), Mr Fred Pirani (son), Ronald Pirani (stepson), Messrs Thomas Forsyth (chairman of the Wellington Education Board) H. Plimmer and W. Gibson. Among those present were: Sir Robert Stout, M.L.C., Sir John Luke, M.P., Messrs Louis Blundell (“Evening Post”), G. Earle (“Dominion”), W. H. Atack, and F. IJ. Morgan (Press Association), George London (Education Board), G. L. Stewart and E. Hylton (Education Board’s staff) P. J. O’Regan, John Hutcheson, A. R. Atkinson, T. B. Strong (Assist-ant-Director of Education), J. Robertson (Manawatu ward of Wanganui Education Board), W. H. Swanger and J. Hodge (Secretary and architect respectively of the Wanganui Education Board), J. E. I-lenrys, M. J. Kennedy (manager Wellngton Gas Co.), and W. J. Helver, and representatives of the staffs of the local Press. The boys of the Kelburn School lined the road and stood to attention as the funeral passed as a tribute to a member of the Education Board, and one who did much to advance the cause of primary education.
