ASSAULT ON FEMALES

STEWARD SENT TO GAOL. Wellington, Last Night. Henry Frost, formerly a steward on the Tahiti, was sentenced to two months' hard labour for offensive behaviour and to one month on a charge of assault on females. ■ Accused was paid off the steamer early in the month, and representing himself as a film producer named Gordon, had accosted several young girls 13 years of age, and had asked them to come to his rooms, so they might have measurements and photographs taken. He bad placed his arms round the girls’ waists. Though the assault was not a serious one, said Chief-Detective Ward, it was not difficult to realise the sinister aspect of' his actions.
