JUSTICES JUSTICE.

Napier, Last Night.

A Justice of the Peace this morning proceeded to sentence a man on a charge that did not exist.

The prisoner faced four charges but drunkenness was- not one of them, and, when the Bench was proceeding to impose imprisonment for insobriety, the senior-sergeant prevented a miscarriage of justice. The presiding Justice then proceeded to impose a sentence for a breach of a prohibition order against accused and was told that this was a question for a stipendiary magistrate to deal with. Finally the prisoner was fined £5 in default one month’s imprisonment, for obscene language.
