BEACH NOTES.

PRESENTATION TO AIR. AND AIRS. WISHART.

A very pleasant euchre party and dance was held at the Beach last evening, in the Beach hall, when the residents foregathered to make a presentation and say farewell to Mr and Airs Wishart, who are leaving the Beach to take up their residence in Foxton.

Air F. Shortt presented AH* Wishart with a set'of military hair brushes and ADs Wishart with a seagrass chair. In a short speech, Air Shortt referred to the kindness and courtesy received at all times from Air and Airs Wishart, during the five years they had been in charge of the Beach.post office. On rising to reply, Air Wishart was greeted with a hearty round of applause. He spoke feelingly of the pleasure it gave both he and his wife to be. the recipients of such tokens of esteem and good wishes from the Beach residents.

“For They are Jolly Good Fellows” was heartily sung by everybody. Capt. Larsen presented the euchre prizes as follows:

Miss Nancy Shortt, first ladies’; Mrs Gardner, consolation; Mr F. Shortt, first gents’; Mr S. Davey, consolation. Refreshments were handed round by Mrs Larsen and Mrs/ Shortt, after which dancing yas indulged in until a iate hour.

The evening finished by singing “Auld Lang Syne,” and “God Save the King.”
