GAS WORKS.

AUGUST WORKING,

The amount of gas manufactured during the month of August was 358,000 ft., which with the amount in the holder on August Ist, 14,400 ft., made a total\of 372,400 ft. During the month 295,800 ft. was used by consumers, 22,000 ft. at the gas works, and there was 19,G00ft. in the holder on September Ist, making a total of 337,400 ft, and leaving 35,000 ft., representing 8.3 per cent, unaccounted for. There is at present 70 tons of coal on hand and during the month 32. tons of coal were carbonised, yielding 10,890 c. ft. to the ton, and producing 8 tons scwt. of coke.

The receipts for the month totalled £213 16/-, and was made up as follows: —Gras sales (lighting) £42 2/11, heat and power £95 18/8, coke sales £46 12/5, tar sales 1/6, fittings £27 5/-, miscellaneous £1 15/6.

The expenditure for the month totalled £240 18/9, and was made up as follows: —Coal £B9 17/4, salaries and wages £44 9/10, services and fittings £9 1/3, meter repairs £32 2/6, cartage and freight £5 13/-, miscellaneous 3/2.
