THE RIVER.
FLOOD EXPECTED. As a result of the recent heavy rains, the Sliannon-Foxton road is again under water. On Monday morning there was a good deal of surface water on the low-lying portions of the borough. The river is rising and, if the rain continues,- aided by the spring tides, which are now due, the river will rise rapidly and a big flood is expected. For the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. to day, 1.15 inches of rain fell locally. At 9 o’clock this morning the' Manawatu River was 2ft 6in above normal at Woodville and was still rising.
