FATAL ACCIDENT.

ELDERLY MAN STRUCK BY TRAIN. Palmerston N., October 4. An elderly man named Sebastian Hulena, 74 years of age, who was found on the railway line on Saturday stunned and injured, died at the hospital on Sunday. On recovering consciousness, he said that after leaving a nearby store, he waited at the crossing for a train to pass, unaware that another train was approaching on the adjacent lines. He stepped on to the rails behind the van of the train that had gone by and from that time could remember nothing. The severe nature of deceased’s injuries however, make it fairly certain that he was struck by the second train and rolled into the grass alongside the line where he was picked up shortly after. f Deceased leaves a widow and family of eight sons and one daughter.
