FIRE IN PALMERSTON GARAGE.

EMPLOYEE OVERCOME BY FUMES.

Palmerston N., September 27,

A fire occurred at the garage of Broadway Motors, King Street, shortly before 7 o’clock last night, a serious conflagration being prevented by the prompt measures of the brigade. The discovery that a pile of? tyres in the rear of the shop were blazing, was made by an employee of the garage (Rodgers) and he made a great effort to beat out the flames.

Upon entering the building, the firemen stumbled over the recumbent figure of Rodgers, who had been overcome by the choking fumes of burning rubber, and quickly removed him to) safety.. No- extensive damage was done. While Rodgers was not affected beyong his temporary incapacity.
