SWIMMING BATHS CARNIVAL
The Citizens’ Committee qre holding a shop day in Main St. to-day. The usual supply of goods is on sale, and competitions are being conducted.
The Sports Committee will hold a dance in the Masonic Hall this evening.
On Monday evening a euchre parly will lie held in Perronu’s rooms under the auspices of (he Citizens’ Queen Committee. To-morrow evening, at 8.15 o’clock, the Fibre Committee will hold a sacred •concert. Good programme by Palmerston N. talent. Silver coin collection.
A live hundred evening wns hold in Pcnvnu's rooms on Friday, there being a good at 1 endonee present. A very enjoyable time was spent by nil. The first prize for Indies was won by Mrs Woodham, and that for the gents by Mr ( Dudson. The booby prizes went to Miss B. Pearson and Mr Gupwell. The Royal Theatre was crowded on Thursday evening, when the Raukawa Maori Entertainers assisted by Foxton talent, presented a concert on behalf of the Fibre Queen Committee. The programme submitted was very well received, and contained some good items, including vocal, instrumental and dancing. The local Maori quartette especially found favour, and a lengthy song by Mr Cf. F. Smith containing local allusions, created a good deal of amusement. A dance followed the concert, and was also well patronised.
