DEATH OF SADDLER
ALARMED BY FIREBELL,
Gisborne, Sept. 23rd.
The ringing of the firebell last evening resulted in the death of Mr •James Thomson, aged! 61, a saddler by occupation. Recently Mr Thomson’s shop was destroyed by lire and since then the ringing of the belli has alarmed him. Last night he got up and enquired where the fire was. He became agitated, collapsed and died in a few minutes. The deceased was born in Lanarkshire, England, and formerly was in business in Wellington.
