TUNNEY DEFEATS DEMPSEY.
FOR. WIORLD’S HEAVY-WEIGHT
CHAMPIONSHIP
After holding the world’s heavyweight boxing championship for seven years, Dempsey has lost the title to Gene Tunney, who in the fight at Pennsylvania yesterday proved altogether too good for the champion. Dempsey fiercely rushed the challenger repeatedly, but Tunney soon showed he was able to- - stand up to the rushes, and in the ninth and tenth rounds Dempsey was in such bad condition that it was doubtful if he could have continued longer. Tunney amazed his supporters and the judges were unanimous in declaring him the
winner. The measurements of the boxers prior to the contest showed that Dempsev and Tunney respectively, were: Weight, 13st 121 b. and 13st. 41b.; height: fift. lin. and Oft. ljin.; reach, 6ft' lin and 6ft 4Ain; neck, IfiJin and 17in; chest 42in and 41 in.; chest expanded, 45in and 43Jin; biceps, 14in and Min: forearm 14in and 14in; wrist, Din and BJin; waist 32in and 34in; thigh, 22in and 24in; calf, 15in and 16in; ankle BJin and (fin.
