Mr J. Logan Stout will not be resinning his magisterial duties until some time after the end of this month. He is still in an indifferent state of health. Mr 11. Hornblow is at present on his annual leave, which he is spending in the Taranaki district. Mr B. Abraham, of Palmerston North, is relieving stationmaster during his absence. The death took place'at Carterton 011 Sunday of Mr Henry Hilmar Wolters, aged 83 years. He was at one time town clerk in Featberston, Greylown and Carterton, and fo i many years was county cl_eyk to the Taratahi Road Board, and later Wairarapa South County Council. He was a well versed authority on local body matters, and was highly esteemed. His wife pre-deceased him a year or two ago, and two daughters and one son are left, Miss O. Walters, Carterton, Mrs H. M. B. Tra.pt, Carterton, and Mr G. Wolters, Melbourne. The death occurred at Wellington on Sunday of the Rev. Josiali Ward, a respected and beloved minister of the Methodist Church for 52 years. He was the fifth son of the pioneer Methodist missionary to New Zealand, the Rev. Robert Ward, whose work, first at New Plymouth in 1844, and later in various parts of the Dominion, laid a sure foundation for the church. He leaves his wife, whose father also was one of the pioneer ministers of the church, the Rev. William John Dean, wellknown in Wellington, one son, Dr. Sidey Ward oflWhan'garei, and. two daughters, Miss Raymie Ward and Mrs Ernest Dawson, both of Wellington.
