SWIMMING BATHS CARNIVAL

The position of Queens to-day is as follows: —Fibre, Citizens, Sports. The Fibre Committee will hold their weekly euchre tournament in Hamer’s sample rooms this evening. The' Sports Committee will hold a concert in Oroua Downs Hall this evening. A euchre party was held in Perreau’s rooms last evening for the Sports Queen candidate, a good number being present. First prizes were won by Mrs Smith and Mr Carpenter; second prizes went to Mrs Ball and Mr Vertongen. A dance was held in the Masonic Hall on Saturday evening for the Sports Queen candidate. A good number of dancers were present and a very pleasant time was spent. A shop day was held on Saturday for the Fibre Queen candidate. Thanks are due to those who helped to make it a financial success. An executive meeting was held on September 14th, presided over by the chairwoman (Mrs Perrenu). Also present were Mesdamcs Barron, Spring, Fuller, and Pearson. It was resolved that all accounts of each Queen Committee be paid by them, the executive not being responsible after the close of the carnival for such accounts; that the Queen committees be not restricted from doing business on Saturdays; that the executive committee bold their meetings once a fortnight, commencing on Friday, October Ist. at G. 45 p. 111., unless a special meeting be called. The Farmers Queen shop dav was discussed, the Fibre Queen representative giving one day to the Sports Queen (October 2nd.). It was decided that the closing date of the carnival lie Tuesday, 23rd November at 7.45 p.m., the results to be announced at a 'concert to be held that evening, Mrs Pearson to arrange the concert.
