Says the Chronicle: —The disastrous floods in the Moutoa area have had an adverse. effect on the flax industry. When the flaxmills are running at normal capacity the monthly output of flax approximates 1400 tons, but at the present time this quantity is said to have dwindled to scarcely more than 250 tons, resulting in acute hardship among the flax-workers.
