Women may now qualify in Britain for “B” licenses as air pilots. This 1 permits them to carry passengers for profit. One hundred and eighty-seven persons were killed in London through street accidents in January, February and March. A curious onlooker at the fire in Wanganui recently was surprised when a dapper gentleman in mufti imperatively ordered him to keep away from the scene of operations (says the Herald). A trifle indignant, he enquired on what authority the command was issued, and then learned that he was confronted by a member of the newly-formed Fire Police Corps. It was the latter institution’s first case of official representation at a fire. Fire police are being formed locally, the'matter having been dealt with at the last meeting of the Foxton Fife Board.
