SERIOUS FIRE

BLACKBALL HALL DESTROYED.

Greymouth, September 13. Mandl’s Hall, Blackball, was' destroyed by .fire last night. The hall, which was valued' at between £ISOO and £I7OOO, had not been in use during the day. About 9.45 p.m. fire was noticed in the rear portion of the building, and, the flames spreading rapidly, the structure was reduced to ashes. No water supply was available. The origin of the fire is unknown. The hall belonged to Mr. Mandi, of Hokitika, and is believed t.o be insured for about £IOOO, which will not cover the loss on the building. Beban’s picture firm, which has utilised Mandi s Hall, will lose about £2OO, as the shed at the rear contained a dynamo and an oil engine, while the firm had their projecting machine and sundry films in the hall.
