WANGANUI RACES.
Delightful wenthei; was experienced for the opening day of the Wanganui J.C’s. Spring meeting on Thursday. The totalisator figures showed a decrease of £4,098, the respective totals for this year and last year being £25,165 10s and £29,263 10s. The racing was full of interest and the course in splendid order. The results are as follows: —
Maiden Race. —Schorr 1, Tea Time, 2, High Pitch 3. Won by half a length. Time, 1.16. Oheliu Hurdles. —Nukumai (W. •Bowden) 1, Koauau (P. Mcßrearty) 2, Tavvehi 3. Won by three-quar-ters of a length. Time 3.15. Putiki Hack Handicap.—Mali Jong 1, Bonhomme 2, Mint Leaf 3. Won by a neck each way. Time, 1.51 4-5.
Sea field Handicap. —Tiega 1, Arclieen 2, Kilia 3. AVon by a neck. Time, 1.31 4-5. Wanganui Guineas. —Lysander 1, Seatoun 2, Rascnl 3. Won by four lengths. Time, 1.43 2-5. Durie Hack Handicap. —Penman 1, Voloplane 2, Sovena 3. AA r on by three-quarters of a length. Time, 1.15 1-5.
Marangai Handicap.—Civility 1, Tanadees 2, Mandane 3. AVon by half a length, a length between second and third. Time, 1.48 4-5. Flying Handicap.—Mireusonta 1, Licinius 2, Yoma 3. AVon by one and a-quarter lengths. Time, 1.14 1-5.
