FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
T SPRING SIIOWI—NEXT THURSDAY. The Foxton Horticultural. Society will stage its spring, show in the Masonic Hall on Tuesday next. Despite the fact that the display room will be somewhat cramped this year, owing to the destruction of the Town Hall, together with the society’s furnishings, it was decided to keep faith with exhibitors and not allow a break in the annual exhibition. One or two classes have been deleted owing to this cause, but this will not affect the principal sections for which splendid entries are coming in. The public are asked to co-operate with the society in making Thursday’s show as successful as in previous years.
The following donations have been received by the secretary: Mr Signal 10/(5, Mr Cowley 10/6. The Novice Class, No. 80, is for those who have never won a prize for bulbs —prizes value 10/- and 5/-. We hope there will be a number of new exhibitors to take advantage of this class. No. 78 is worth every bulb grower’s entry —10/-, 5/-, and 2/6 in cash for one section is a real “plum,”
'file family cake (recipe given) should solicit a record number of entries. Mr Whitehead’s 10/6 first, Mr Yen’s 251 b. bag of flour second, and Mr A. R. Osborne’s 2/6 third. Exhibitors are asked to bring some bottles for cut blooms, as the society is short of vases. Contributions to the cake stall are solicited.
If members would get their tickets, and the promised donations were handed in before the show, on Thursday next, the secretary would appreciate such consideration.
