FOXTON CHORAL SOCIETY.
SOCIAL EVENING.
Although the 'local Choral Society has gone into recess it is not proposed to lose social touch with members and last night there was a foregathering of members and •friends at a so'eial evening in All Saints’ schoolroom. The inclement weather was responsible for a number of apologies for absence but between thirty and forty put in an appearance and an enjoyable time was spent midst music, song and story, to say nothing of an interesting competition and supper. The Rev. AY. H. Walt on presided and referred to a chapter of antient local history. He stated that an old. file of the Manawatu Herald contained particulars of the choral society in 1880. In that year the society discussed the question of winding up but the motion was lost by 8 to 4. He said the records showed that the society was formed in 18/9 and he read the programme of the first concert of the fourth season which was given in the Public Hall in that year. Details of this concert will be published in a subsequent issue.
