SWIMMING BATHS CARNIVAL.

A “Ba.ck-to-Childhood” evening was held in Mrs Yeo’s residence last week in aid of the Citizens’ Queen candidate. There were about thirty people present and a most enjoyable time was spent by all. Childhood games were indulged in and the costumes of those present were novel and amusing. Songs and recitations were given during the evening and everyone expressed the opinion that the evening was the most unique that had yet been presented in Foxton.

The Fibre weekly euchre party will be held in Hamer’s sample room this evening. The Citizens’ Committee will hold an “American Tea” in the Plunket Room at 3 o’clock to-morrow afternoon. _ The Sports Committee will hold a euchre tournament in Perreau’s rooms to-morrow evening, at 8 o’clock. Aggregate prizes will be given at close of season for both lady and gent. A shop day was held on Saturday for the Fibre Queen candidate, and was a great financial sue'eess. Thanks are due to those who helped so much by sending goods, etc. Competitions were drawn for, the winners being as follows: —Mrs T. McDonald, dog; Miss N. Chaffey, cake; Mr Scadden, supper; Mr R. Haydohk, dinner; Mr P. J. Jack, coal; McEvven, knickers; Mrs C. Fuller, stockings; Mr Little, sheep; Messrs Broad and C. King, sheep (2411b5); Miss 11. Ellers, tea; Mr Todge, apples; Mr McLean (Wliitaunui) cake; Mrs Roberts, boudoir cap; Mr B. 'Chalk, 'cushion; Mrs Cowley, hearth rug. The Disguised Woman (Mrs Arden) was guessed by 24 and the draw was won by Mrs T. Fuller, the sum of 10/- being the prize.

A euchre party was held in Perreau’s rooms on Monday evening for the Farmers’ Queen Candidate. The prizes were won by Mrs Seabury and Mr Gordon. A number of competitions were drawn for, the winners being as follows: —Spoons, Mrs Rimmer; hand bag, Mrs McColl; chocolates, Miss J. Barry. We regret to say that, on adeount of ill-health, Miss Y. Easton has had to retire from the contest, but keen interest will sti'll be maintained in the remaining three contestants.
