THE HEMP MARKET.
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
The High Commissioner’s cable, dated the 14th inst,, reads: Hemp. Manila market, remains firm. “J” grade August-Scptem'ber and Sep-tember-November shipments sold at £44. Stocks in Manila on 31st July were 191,000 bales as against 141,000 bales for the same period last year. Great Britain: 26331 bales as against 27820. Sisal market steady with l£o. 1 Tanganyika and Kenya afloat; August-Oct'ober shipments sold at £43. New Zealand market shows a fair demand but business is restricted on account of scarcity of offers. There are buyers of high points at £37; fail;. £33 10s, £34 reached;' afloat sold at £3O 10's.
