FATALITY AT MANGAHAO.
A single man named Win. J. McLeod was accidentally killed at Mangahao on Saturday, as a result of a piece of wood striking him on the head and fracturing his skull.
Deceased was engaged drilling in the Mangahao Gorge, and the piece of wood that struck him was being dislodged from the face of the hill about 250 feet above. The blow rendered himuneonscious, and death ensued about an hour and a half afterwards. Everything possible was done for the injured man by Nurse Prain, • who is stationed at the camip. McLeod was a returned soldier, and was exceedingly popular. At an inquest, a verdict of accidental death was returned.
