Foxton at Shannon, 1.30 p.m. The Manawatu - Horowhcnua combined fifteen provided a surprise at Palmerston on Saturday by holding the elect of the premier Rugby province in a thrilling and brilliant display ending with the score 14 ponts all. The combined forwards rose magnificently to the occasion, and their backs were a match for the Hawke’s. Bay rear-guard. The deadly tackling of the home side broke up the visitors’ combination, and with more luck on a couple of occasions, when the ground proved just too narrow, Hawke’s Bay would have been substantially defeated. The scorers fo|r Tlawke’-'s Bay were Rush, Jensen, Cooke, and Grenside, the last named converting the first try. For Manawatu-Horo-wlienua, Jacob, Roberts and Hunt scored, Jacob adding a penalty kick and converting Hunt’s try. In a third grade representative game Manawatu defeated Horowhenua by 15 points to 0.
