FOXTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING.

The usual monthly meeting of the Borough Council was held last night. Present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr M. E. Perreau) and Crs. McMurray, Thompson, Winstanley, Rand, Parkin, Walker. Apologies for absence were received from Crs Woods and Adams.

The gas manager reported that considerable trouble had been experienced at the works recently, hut he was pleased to report that the apparatus was working smoothly now. One cooker was installed during the month and a good number of services cleaned out. One sendee was renewed. There is a good supply of coal on hand. — Adopted. It was decided that Mr. Bergin represent the Council at the conference and commission in connection with the Manawatu-Oroua River Board’s river improvement scheme. The Plunket Society was granted a donation of £2 2s. It was decided that unless the Manawatu County Council accept the Council’s offer to purchase the grader before August 14th the offer he withdrawn.

It was decided to support the Hawera Council’s objection to the Town Planning Bill.
