An inquest into the circumstances of the death of Delores Young (whose body was foud in he Wanganui River near Putiki on Friday), wife of Reginald Young, a railway fireman of Taumarunui, was opened at Wanganui on Monday. The Coroner, Mr J. S. Barton, S.M., presided, and Detective J. Walsh conducted the inquest. After the evidence of Mr Dagg, the guardian of deceased, had been heard, an adjournment was granted till Satin day morning, the police not being prepared to continue the case until then.

William Dagg, a labourer, of Taumarunui, and guardian of the deceased, said that Mrs Young was married some time in February at Taradale, near Napier. .After the wedding the couple resided at AVaverley House, Taumarunui. Witness last’ saw the deceased on May 12th, four days before her disappearance, when she was in good health and appeared to be quite cheerful. Mr and Mrs Young were not living together at the time, as there had been some trouble between them, and Mr Young had gone to live at another boardinghouse. On May 17th witness was told that deceased was missing. He immediately made investigations and found that her bed had not been slept in the previous evening. Witness, the police and the husband of deceased conducted a search and on the bank of the Wanganui river, immediately below Waverley House, witness found footprints which he identified as a pair he had repaired for the deceased. After seeing the body, witness said he had no doubt that it was that of Delores Young. Deceased was 23 years of age. The inquest was then adjourned.
