CHILD KILLED BY INSANE MOTHER.

Christchurch, July 24. Seven weeks ago Christhureh was horrified to read of the tragic death at Sunnier of a child only a few weeks old, the circumstances being that it was caused by the act of a temporarily demented mother.' The women was later found in the sea off the Esplanade in a state of collapse. A tragic story was told at the inquest to-day when a fourteen-year-old boy described the mother’s action. Medical evidence showed thal the child had been cut about the neck. The woman had shown every indication of puerperal mania, which sometimes follows confinement. A verdict wag returned that the child died from wounds inflicted by the mother while temporarily insane.
