A euchre party was held in the Beach Hall on Friday evening last for the Fibre Queen candidate. An enjoyable evening was spent. The first prize for ladies went to Mrs Williams (Foxton), and the gents to Mr. Hartley.

The organiser of the carnival informs us that despite a previous warning certain young men, under the influence of liquor, were present at the dance on Saturday night. Their conduct inside the hall, while not boisterous, was nevertheless objectionable. We are also informed that liquor was taken for consumption outside the hall. It is regretable that public attention should again have to be directed to this matter which, if allowed to continue, will prejudice the success of those functions as self-respecting young women will not allow themselves to be associated with such conduct. We understand that the police have been asked to take a hand in putting a stop to what is becoming a public scandal.

The hockey match, Moutoa sports queen v. Foxton sports queen, to have been played to-morrow has been postponed owing to the impassibility of the Moutoa road.
